To support excellence in education for African students, Society of Petroleum Engineers 2013 President Egbert Imomoh has established a scholarship available to those pursuing a master’s degree in petroleum engineering.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit professional association whose members are engaged in energy resources development and production. SPE serves more than 124,000members in 135 countries worldwide. SPE is a key resource for technical knowledge related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry and provides services through its publications, events, training courses, and online resources at www.spe.org.
Worth of Award
Two students from Nigeria and two students from other countries in SPE’s Africa Region will be awarded a one-time scholarship payment of $2000.
To qualify students must be enrolled in a master’s level petroleum engineering curriculum and be a citizen of a country in SPE’s Africa region regardless of location of study.
How to Apply
- Applying for the scholarship begins in October/November yearly.
- Applications are completed electronically and include grade reports from all universities attended, letters of recommendation and a statement of interest / essay.

Deadline: The deadline for application is April 15 with final selections announced June 15.
